Welcome to From the Lou

I’m initiating this blog From the Lou for two reasons:

—for the serious dissemination of St. Louis history which is deep, fascinating and little known – particularly to St. Louisans (who with rare exceptions are not taught it)

—and to provide a forum for the lively discussion of all things St. Louis from trivia and culture to lifestyle and happenings of interest.

The tone will be alternately serious and light. This is not a forum for political dialogue and I reserve the right – to post or not to post – whatever I wish.

Welcome to Maureen’s blog From the Lou!

We just found Jim’s great, great grandparents were from Ireland, Hugh McMenamy from Donegal and
    Hannah McDermont from Roscommon
Now we have another reason to go to Ireland, maybe next year. Kathy

I stumbled on your blog while trying to find out more about the Peabody Opera House. I’m an information junkie who loves St. Louis (not a native, tho), and just want to thank you for taking the time to pull together informative, intriguing, fascinating, well-written, illuminating posts about our city.

I love sharing the city with visiting friends, who are always amazed at how much STL has to offer and how vibrant it is.

Thanks again for taking the time to do this!
